Ashland golf players made cred

ern Oregon tournament played at
Medford. The fact that Ashland
has a first-class golf course which
enables the business and profes
sional men of the city to play the
game sufficiently frequent and well
to enter the district tournament Is
further evidence of the value of
the golf course to this city. As
means of promoting Inter-city
friendships and Interests, the golf
course Is unexcelled. More
operation and understanding may
be expected from the Inter-clty
groups as they mingle more on the
greens. Ashland, Klamuth Falls,
Medford, Grants Pass and Hose

Decorations -
The children have been having
fun decorating the, school house.
They are making a border around
the blackboard of pumpkins, coru
and leaves. We hope they will last
a long time as most of the flowers
have been frozen.

Evidence continues to accumu
late of the careless shooting by
some bird hunters on ranches and
near ranch homes, endangering
the lives and limbs of humans and
livestock, but fortunately so far
no one has been wounded.
If John Norrls had his way.
nlmrods would at least be a lit
tle more careful when they come
around his place in Jacksonville.
Ho said last evening that some
hunter yesterday afternoon began
firing at a covey of quail nearly
I in ills front yard and In the prox
I lmlty of other dwellings. - The
quail had been fed (luring the
past winter, spring and summer
months by residents of that sec
tion of Jacksonville and had be
come quite tame. Mr.-Norrls at
tempted to ascertain the Identity
of the hunter, but had not suc
ceeded last evening.
Daniel Webster, the great orator,
was so shy as a child that he could
not stand in school to recite.
