A beautiful German police dog,
with an appetite to match his
size, and a head full of Ideas
on efficient business administra
tion, wandered Into the Home
Grocery, 610 East Main Btreet
yesterday morning. Before pre
senting his proposition of mana
gerial duties to J. li. Monroe,
store owner, he indicated a wil
lingness lb first dispose of 23
warm puppies of the Frankfurter
family, on stock in the store.
Dissuaded from this course of
procedure, the visitor argued all
cats and rats into vacating their
living quarters 'on the premises,
and then set out to make friends
with the. store owner. Demon
strating a remarkable amount of
executive ability, he greeted
tradesmen as they came through
the door with their supplies, but
saw to It that they lid not re
move their trays and boxes, evi
dently figuring on a material re
duction of overhead for Mr. Mon
roe. This morning, after enjoying a
cup of coffee and throe waffles,
the canine efficiency expert started
out the day' pursuing the same
course he iriaueguratod yesterday.
Although appreciating his help
and ability, and enjoying him as
a companion, Mr. Monroe would
like to learn something of his past
and whether or not he owes an
obligation to some other local
resident, now probably suffering
anxiety as to his whereabouts.
Today at 9:30 o'clock when the
f doors of Scott Woolf's furniture
store were opened, a clamoring
) crowd of eager .bargain seekers
literally over-ran the large store.
The sale will continue tomorrow
land every day next week until the
entire stock Is sold, according to
M. G. Mordoff, who Is conducting
the quitting business event.
"The greatest sale In the his
tory of Scott Woolf's store" is the
enthusiastic comment Mr. Woolf
made today. "The response on
the part of southern Oregon and
northern California shoppers is
very gratifying to me.
Owing to illness, Scott Woolf Is
selling his entire stock of furni
ture, as well as the store fixtures
and, as soon as the quitting busi
ness sale Is over, will leave Med
ford for the south, where he will
reside in an effort to regain his
health. An entirely new lot of
bargains will be featured each
day while the stock lasts, accord
ing to Mr. Mordoff's announce
ment today.
