Without the first thu others mo
lout. SueceHH In life demands n tie j
i'iiilahlc body as well as a sound
nnd resourceful mind. I
I'cuplo trying for tho best in life
will endeavor to have the host of I
health. Poor health Is universally j
acknowledged to bo a dead weight
to proKrexH.' The army of human
beluga that lone out on mgoimt of
it la large. Myriads of missed op
portunities to do well could he
traced to organic or functional dis
turlianccH that wrote the lines of
unsatisfactory physical condition
itcross tho general appearance of
the Individual as plainly as health
will manifest itself In the light of
the eye, the color of the skin, the
shape and movement of the human
-ody and the clearness nnd force
fulness of tho human mind.
Because there nro millions of
sick and ailing mortals, there .arc
score or more of health cults of
fering service to make people well
and keep them that way. There
have been doctors since the first
day broke almost. There arc
many now, so that soveral repre
sentatives of as many different
cults arc of easy access to almost
any sick Individual. They are all
in the fight against disease nnd all
interested In promoting human
health. Some with faith in the
potency of drugs, some with the
knife as a last resort. Tossibly they
all do tho best, they can, but the I
host that has as yet been done is
not all that must be done. There
arc more sick and ailing In our
generation in ratio to Increased
papulation. There is now extreme
need of a health system that wl'l
prove nioro powerful to combat
discaso.
i
The success of any health sys
tem rests in tho results It accomp
lishes in .curing and proyfiililng
disease. The Science of C'lflroprac
ffie, 'a druglesB health system, has
only Its results in restoring the
sick to health to account tor Its
pin nomcnal growth. It. has cover
ed the entire country in lei; than
a iiuartcr of a century. It is en
dorsed by more than a half million
benefited porsons and Is well
on the way to universal use. He
suits caused Its growth' and ac
count for its progress. I'eoplc get
well when they take scientific
spinal adjustments, and In thous
ands of cases this lias been true of
persons pronounced incurable by
other health modes.
When there Is a disease in the
human body there is a cause in the
body itself to account for it. The
Science of t.'hirnpniclic assumes
that cause to be in tht: human
spine. Kplnul Joints become dis
placed and press the nerves to an
extent that It will Interfere with
the normal passage of health ener
gy through thorn from the brain to
tlio body parts. Practically all dis
eases Is tho result of such spinal
derangements.
Are the chiropractors right In
this hypothesis? The lad that they
havo 64 per cent of recoveries to
their credit is statistical tables,
made up by non-partisan agencies
interested only In gathering facts
for public health reports, proves
more to the advantage of tho chiro
practic work than the finest spun
theories of all our brightest minds
ln all the health books of the
world. Health theories aro valu
able in proportion as they work
out health results when put to
practice. Sixty-four per cent re
Biilts Is a triumph for the underly
ing theory of Cliiropructle, which
is that compression of nerves by
displaced spinal bones Is the cause
of practically all human disease,
and that health is tho result of ad
Agisting these bones to remove tltc
causeatlvo pressuru from the
nerve lines.

I Wise legislation has halted the ancient prejudice that dictated the exploitation of child labor For selfish gain.
Guided by AMERICAN INTELLIGENCE it has routed greed. No longer are little children forced into slavery. .
Gone is that ancient prejudice against cigarettes Progress
has been made. We removed the prejudice against cigarettes
when we removed harmful corrosive ACRIDS pungent irri
tants) from the tobaccos.
'EARS ago, "when cigarettes were made without the aid of
modern science, there originated that ancient prejudice against
all cigarettes. That Criticism is no longer justified. LUCKY STRIKE,
the finest cigarette' you ever smoked, made of the choicest tobacco,
properly aged and skillfully blended "It's Toasted."
, "TOASTING," the most modern step in cigarette manufacture,.
removes from LUGKY STRIKE harmful irritants which are pres
ent in cigarettes manufactured in the old-fashioned way.
Everyone knows that heat purifies, and so "TOASTING"
LUCKY STRIKE'S extra secret process removes harmful cor
rosive ACRIDS (pungent .irritants) from LUCKIES which in the
old-fashioned manufacture of cigarettes cause throat irritation and
coughing. Thus "TOASTING" has destroyed that ancient preju
dice against cigarette smoking by men and by women.
