Truth in Milk
If the interest of the housowife
could he awakened to the extent
of personal investigation of the his-
tory of tiio bottle of milk which is
daily delivered at her door, then I
will venture to say that tne nuaiuy sumo vears oko the National

When we ask the dairyman to ' in the (,,y mn oC fare Accord
leave a bottle of milk on our toor-jnfr to t,jg Vhart one quart of milk

pect this bottle to contain? The I comparative energy food value bn
state law says: "Milk m the fresh. sj: .

after calving, and contains not less ;

Is it possible for the bottle to
contain a substance that conforms
to this definiation and still be un
wholesome and even dangerous to.!
use? No mention is made ot flavor
and odor, nor is any limit put on
the number of bacteria it may con-
tain. As a matter of fact, the two

fresh in that it was recently drawn

from the udder of the cow, and may
be clean insofar as any sediment
remaining in it is discernible, but
it may contain millions of bacteria
of various and sundry kinds which
have gained access during the pro
cess of production and preparation
for market, and may have flavors
and odors entirely foreign to nor

was strained out, or by certain bac-

The result which we seek to ac

different towns is to know "The
Truth in Milk." We employ the
best known methods of finding out

his bottle contains.
