START IMPROVING

cial.) Work is already under way
for the expenditure of $:m.ihiu of
county money on the Head Indian
road. The first part of the con
struction work Is being; carried
forward by a force of 50 men on a
st retch of road in the vicinity . of
(he Hatch ranch. A rock crusher
j is being assembled and a com
l pressor is being used in prepara
jtion for blasting. According to the
statement of County Fngineer Paul
Kynuing. men are being taken off
all other construction work in the
county as fast as they can possibly
be spared and put onto the Dead
Indian work.
The survey for (he new road has
been mad-.' wilii the idea of mak
ing u fine permanent road rather
than for an improvement of the
old route. Work this year will be
carried inward the intersection of
the Shale oil road with the Dead
Indian road, while next ear im
provement will be made on the
narrow stretch just beyond the

of commerce. Air mail letters to
be ent from here when the first
flight is made from the new air
port are being received by the
hum) reds.
So far nearly one thousand of
the self -addressed envelopes have
been received at the chamber of
commerce office and several hun
dred more tire being held al the
postoffice Postmaster Warner
says. More than 7j were received
in the mail this morning at the
chamber of commerce alone.
Publicity for the new airport
anil first flight has been printed
in several of the stamp collector's
magazines. The letters which they
wJsh mailed will bear the cachet
anil special cancellation for the
first mail sent from the munici
pal field, and will he valuable to
collectors.
The let tern come from every
state in the union and fpom Can
ada and Mexico. Many of them
are for collectors and as many as
25 come to be ent hack to the
same man or stamp agency.

Among those arriving this morn
