Talking Over the
Picnic Hampers
In these days of thermos bot
tles, paper cups, plates and spoons,
it Is possible to picnic, with cold
drinks, and something besides the
tdurdy sandwich und the hard
boiled egg. Tomatoes eaten whole
with salt, cold slaw (minced fine
ami mixed with a seasoned
bought mayonnaise and chopped
peppers) nod berries easily serv
ed on paper plutes or In cups to
bo eaten with sugar only ami
paper spoons, taste differently
from formal service with cream.
A bit of candy after meals Is the
rulo for giving children or anyone
their sweets. The hard wholesome
candies suggested, or the fun of
toasting marslimallows, fill thu
bill with a. minimum of sweets.
Kven in July, real picnickers have
n bit of a fire and toast or roast
putt of the food. It's fun, even
if the results ure Imperfect.
And speaking of that we are
going to start a movement to have
the popular frankfurter treated
better! They are for the most
part cold, hard nnd half cooked;
let t ing t help repose for a few
minutes on a warm slab isn't
