Forthwith she led the way down
through a secluded valley until be

now they rode across the smooth
turf, shut In from the blusterous
wind until old Truffeni Hopped
suddenly In a deep recess beneath
a narrow opening In the masonry,
where Ivy grew very thick; leaning
from her pony she groped amid
these leaves and presently drew
thence a cord, which she tugged at
once, twice, thrice, and sat very
silent and motionless. And after
some while the ivy leaves In this
particular corner parted, and from

"But sure 'tls killed In duel, ye

"It Is murder, and, Nick, my ring

A ffreat change has come over the
world of fashion. The slim anil
annular figure is growing loss
popular.
Perhaps this is partly Hue to the
warnings of medical specialists that
thousands of women and girts were
ruining their health by extreme re
ducing diets. Part of it may be due
to a more sensible trend in style.
All the world knows today that
beauty comes from health.
The health of the public is in tho
hands of the women. If man were
left to his own devices he might etit
few foods, and those improperly
cooked. Monotony in diet and even
tually bodily disorders would result.
Sugar is a great ally of women in
preparing a varied, balanced diet
that is not only healthful, but de
lightful to the taste and welromed
by every member of the family.
Learn the value of a dash of
sugar in making cereals delicious.
Use a sprinkling of sugar to encour
age the ingestion of grapefruit and
other healthful, fresh fruits. A
little sugar makes stewed fruits de- '
lightful to the palate. And now I
fottr women cooking experts have
rediscovered the old secret of using
a dash of sugar in vegetables while
they are cooking in a small amount
of water. You will hardly recog
nise veiretables cooked in this proper
way. They are fresher, more color
ful, and the vegetable flavors are
developed to a new point of perfec
tion. Remember also Ice cream,
rakes. cookies atid candy for dessert.
