No fault of the now typo motor
hut a very di'linito fault in motor
oils. Oil rrfinerii could conveniently
"forjiol" hard carbon as long o mo-
tors wore lug ono.ili to hold a hand
ful of it. It was harmful, of course,
hut not immediately disastrous.
Hard carhon causes knocking, cn
pine strain, power loss. Flakes pet
under valves and expose their scats
and stems to hiiruinp, warping heat,
(.rilly hits grind through hearings,
chafe cylinder walls and wear your
motor out before, its time.
And the new motors, some of
them with as Utile us 132 of an
inch clearance between piston and
cylinder head, simply can't tolerate
hard carbon there's no room for it.
Scientists have an answer ready,
though : U.ir an oil that forms no
hard carhon !
And Shell Motor Oil actually
forms only 13 to 15 as much car
bon as even the costliest oils you
can buy. The little it docs form is
only soft soot which blows harm
lessly away through the exhaust.
Helpful in any motor, almost a
necessity in high-compression typr,
this new oil has other advantages,
too. It is a remarkable lubricant,
remaining fluid in the coldest
weather, resisting the highest sum
mer heat. Its new high-vacuum re
fining process is a development as
important to ear owners as is tho
advancement in motor desiun.
Make it an absolute requirement
when you refill the crankcase.
