earwigs on exhibition in various

Medford property owners as well
as residents in all sections of the

to place several in a bottle and

.Mr. Mutton says he bought it

of Medford since he has been a
resident here for the past year and
a half, the more firmly is he con
vinced of Med ford's future growth
and prosperity. Me regards him
self as extremely fortunate in
being able to get hold of such a
finely located properly. The prop
erty fronts 1 "lit feet on Ivy street
and 1 Hi feet on West Main.
For the present Mr. Mutton says
the Countain bulge, which is the
former home of 1 r. and Mrs. K.
It. 1'ii kel, will continue tit be
operated as a first class rooming
house, as it has been by Mr. and
Mrs. Toft. Inasmuch as the loca
tion is a very desirable one for a
business struct u r e, apartment
house or even for a downtown
resilience, the property. It is gcn-
orally thought, will not be devoted'
very long to rooming house use.
M r. Toft, of course, will con
tinue to reside In Medford. and
from July 1 on will devote his
entire time to the Medford Hoiuled
Warehouse, which he owns, and to
his real estate holdings in Jack-
isonvillc, some I'O pieces.
I Mr. and Mrs. Toft plan to buy
1 or build a residence in Medford tu
the very near future.
Although the rain and snow have
ceased at Crater Iake National
park, and the past tvvn days there
have been fine ones, the work of
clearing off the snow from the
road between I lovernment camp
and the lodge, which had been fast
progressing, came to a stop yes
terday morning when the big cater
pillar broke down and although
new repair parts were wired for
from Portland or San Francisco,
they may not be here for several
days.
This makes the situation doubt
ful as to having that road cleared
of snow all the way to the rim by
next Saturday evening, unless Sup
er hit emlent K. C Kolinsky puts
hfs entire crew of labor at the park
to shoveling snow.
Despite the fact that the going
is sloppy, many tourists and local
citizens are visiting the lake rim
dally, driving their cars to some
distance above (iovernment camp
and then trudging through the
snow and slush about three-quarters
of a mile up the hill to the
rim.
An odd sight is to see the tour
ists, who are not dressed for such
a trip, especially the women,
trudging through this very wet
slush in low shoes and silk' stock
ings. The walk up the hill to the
rim is not so bad early In the
mornings, because the slush freezes
over during the night sufficiently
for one to walk upon the crust.
The snow ami slush arc from one
to four feet deep and the past two
days it has been melting fast.
Many local parties are planning
to drive next Sunday as far above
(Iovernment camp as possible, urn!
then, if necessary, tramp through
the slush to the rim to feast their
eyes again on Crater hike.
The first crew of employes left
the city this morning,
Fort Hubbard, park ranger, nnd
C.eorge (Mutt) Ouuld, truck driv
er, arrived here yesterday from the
park, and will return this evening
or tomorrow. Superintendent Ko
linsky has been at the park for the
past two days.
