While quite a number of special
Shrine trains from tbf east, south
and middle west were scheduled
to pass through Oregon the luxt

return trips home from the na
tional Shrine convention at Los
Angeles, the local district office
of the Southern Pacific railroad
j today did not know whether any
' of them . were routed through
Medford, but it is expected that
several at least will come through
.Medford by t:ie Shasta route.
The great majority of these
trains will come through Oregon
by the Cascade route Klamath
j Falls, Eugene and Portland, 32
i of them, bearing 5234 Shriners.
In addition there will be 1 5
special car Shriner parties.
Were it not for the Natron cut
off, all these special trains and
cars would pass through Medford.
ABILITY 10 SURVIVE
Demonstrating the hardiness of

today with blue grass exhibits
from .Montague to be displayed
at the chamber of commerce soon.
A feature of the display Is a large
rock, In which'' several stalks of
the grass is growing.
Seeds had been blown on the
j'ok and, settling In a crevice,
began to grow. The roots pushed
themselves several inches through
the fissures of the stone and took
root in the ground below. The
grass that resulted is a healthy
appearing specimen, and is re
garded as a rare freak. The stone
was on the ranch property of
.Mrs. K. K. KUison uf Kdgewood.
