COOKS FIND NEW
VALUE OF SUGAR
Vegetables More Delicious
When Cooked New Way
Two groupH of women, nil famous
cooking: experts, recently conducted
a series of tests to find the most
tasteful way of preparing vege
table dishes. In every case, after
the various way of cooking vege
tables were tried, the experts
unanimously voted in favor of
using otdy a little water and add
ing sugar in cooking vegetables.
One group of experts recommends
this unusual recipe for haktd a pule
ami onions. Slice H medium-size
apples and six mcdium-si-,c unions
into a greased casserole in alter
nate layers, seasoning with 'salt,
pepper, la cup of sii'-ar, and 2 table
spoons butter. Add cup water
and bake in n moderate oven
(;to0 K.) about of an hour.
The sugar adds not only to the
taste but al hi to the food and energy
value of the vegetables, mo that
they are not only valuable vitamin
foods, but foods that furnish work
ing power to the individual. Use a
lilu'ial dash of suar, depending on
the quantity cooked, with pens,
lima beans, string beans, corn, car
rots, beets, parsnips, sweet potatoes.
