ords of distribution. The distribu

This achievement marks tho
fourth year, in succession In which
the Hiblc circulation of each pre
ceding year haw been exceeded.
In China, just . emerging from
the throes of a significant revolu
tion, the American Bible society
distributed over 4, G0, 000 volumes,
the largest circulation In tho his
tory of the society's work in
China. '
The society also reports multi
plying opportunities for larger
scripture distribution in tho re
publics of Latin America. In the
West Indies agency, demands for
scriptures were largely, from those
who were not affiliated with tho
churches, a definite campaign re
sulting in tho greatest, circulation
in ten years. itiblo coaches are
being used increasingly by the so
ciety's agency in the Argentine to
reach remote p luces In Uruguay
and Paraguay, that the Bible may
be made available to those not yet
reached by the Bible workers. In
Mexico tho demand for ' Bibles is
greater than the supply.
In the Arabic Levant agency,
with headquarters at Cairo, pub
lication was increased 350 per cent
over that of tho previous year.
The plates of tho Turkish Bible
have recently been rendered obso
lete by the Turkish ruling on the
alphabet, whereby the Arabic
script must bo replaced by Latin'
characters. Not a vestige of the
Arabic script is allowed In tho
gradf schools. Drummers have
gone through tho streets and vil
lages all over the republic of Tur
key culling upon everyone between
the ages of lti and 40 to attend
the special classes opened for
them. Thus millions of people
will soon be able to read the scrip
tures who could not have done so

In the United States there are
still many homes with no knowl
edge of the Hthle. Throughout
the northwest Bible workers found
grown children who had never
seen a Bible and had never been
