Heed, who has been in the Sacred
Heart hospital since Tuesday us a
result of injuries sustained when
his motorcycle collided on the Pa
cific highway, Sunday, with a car
driven by Dr. McKay, woman phy
sician of Grants i'uss, ia reported
greatly Improved.
The. local boy, who was Just re
covering from an appendicitis op
eration performed three weeks
ago, iviaen the a ccident occurred ,
wus more seriously injured than it
was first thought. His left leg
was broken, the fractured bone
piercing the urtory.. and causing
not only u tremendous loss of
blood, but resulting In infection.
The other leg was badly cuti and
bruised and also became Indicted.
A careful diagnosis at tho local
hospital did not disclose any seri
ous internal injuries.
Upon receiving the news, of her
son's uccident, Mrs. Heed left Med
ford immediately with Mrs. Laura
J'ulnum, a trained nurse, Hunduy
night. Thu boy, in the . meantime,
was moved 40 miles into Grants
J'atis. Tuesday morning ho was
placed on a cot and in the baggage
car of the southbound, Southern
Pacific and brought to Med ford.
Here he was met by the Perl am
bulance and removed to the local
hospital. , - i
