It could hardly be the pay, for re
muneration runs from $72 to SlfiO
n month, with $1.95 a day for sub
Klstenco. It is not travel, for the
bands seldom leave Washington.
Occasionally one may make a con
corf tour, hut all of tho earnings
if ;any go to charity. The band
' men -are not- permitted to make
any- personal profit from their concerts.
