Odd Fellow Harmony
During the Civil War
It is not generally known that
during the civil war there was no
division among the Odd Fellows of
the "north and the south. The
schism and division that marked
that great struggle did not enter
into Odd Fellowship circles. Har
mony was maintained throughout
the four yehrs of the struggle and
there were no wounds to be healed
when the strife was over. '
Brethren of thfe order from the
north and the south fraternized
with each other when engagements
vere over and no identified Odd
llow was neglected.

Rayon Rivals Silk in
Beauty and Strength
Rayon has come into its own.
Instead of busking in the reflected
glory uf its resemblance, to silk, it
now stands on Its own merits as a
lovely and durable fabric.
Laundering does not detract
from the beauty of rayon. If the
right methods are used, the fabric
seems to Improve each time it Is
washed. Plenty of Kjiupsuds and
water of an even hike-warm tem
perature are essential throughout
the process of washing and rinsing
articles made of rayon. The fabric
should never lie wrung or squeezed
but should be plunged in and out
of soapy lather until all signs . of
uoil have disappeared.
After several rinsings, the water
should be pressed out gently and
the art fele rolled in a towl to dry.
As rayon is more often injured in
the ironing than in the washing,
care should be taken to keep the
iron from becoming too hot. It
it advisable to press the article on
the wrong side while it is still
fiuito damp.
Rayon, as well as other wash
able materials, will give better
service if it is laundered frequently
than if dirt Is allowed to become
embedded in its surface.
Much time and effort may be
saved in making a dress if every
seam and every part as it joins
another is carefully pressed. This
eliminates much basting and will
make the turn for hems, pipings
and folds more secure than bast
ing stitches.

Hint for Flower Show
Among the new features to be,
considered for thlH season's flower
show Is one that has been intro
duced into several flower shows
In the last few years: the "still
life pictures." The appearance' Is
that of an art gallery, but the
colors ae nature's own.

follows: A light framework is
constructed from ceiling to floor
about two feet out from the wall.
This framework is to be covered
with burlap, openings to bo cut
at Intervals for the pictures, each
opening to be fitted with a frame.
As the pictures vary greatly In
size, the openings are not cut till
the exact locations nnd dimensions
nre determined.
The space back of each opening
Is lined with black material and
upon a shelf built therein is placed
the vase with flowers or other ar
rangement. Lighting effects may
be added as needed.
