west lumber companies, said today
the new tariff hill leaves much to
be desired from the viewpoint of
Oregon lumbermen.
"On 'cedar lumber and shlngleR,"
Pant said, "the duty is 25 per cent
ud valorem. For years there has
been a 'demand thut something be
done to hIiiii out the shingles und
cedur from Canada, and this de
mand appears to have been recog
nized in' the new bill.
"Cut . the' hill is' of no value to
this district because II does not
include luuglas fir and hemlock."
Although tho duly on fresh beef
Is practically doubled by the bill.

tariff that decreases consumption
