debris of the Rye Cove consolidated
school today, fearful of finding ad
ditional victims of the tornado thai
yesterday claimed the lives of 13
children and one teacher in the
greatest disaster ever known to this
western VlrKlnla mountain vlllnRo.
Several children were reported

school, estimated that about 156
pupils were In attendance, In addi
tion -to the eight teachers.
About 15 children, the most seri
ously Injured, were taken In um

nearest railroad station at Clinch
port where a train was converted
