The body of Andrew Ogdcn,
wcallhy civic leader, was found
slumped over a desk In the library
of his homo, a dagger in his neck.
Peebles had rushed to his neigh
bor's home In answer to an urgent

here today ' under $5000 bail,
charged with attempting, to kill
tho man ho says stole tho love of
his wlfo. "It was the easiest
thing T ever did," police quoted
him, 'und I won't say that 1 won't
do it again If I get the chance."
And In a hospital F. E. Braga,
was being treated for a super
ficial bullet wound. Ho refused
to tulk.
Tho shooting took placo In the
office of Hraga's garago, where
Gaunt told police ho had gone
to learn of his wife. -
"When Braga refused to tell mo
where ho had hidden her, I shot
him," Gaunt told police. "When ho
laughed at me I shot him."
Gaunt said his wife, Caroline,
&T, had left him for Braga on
April G. Braga, ho said, hud
promised to finance a divorce,
marry her himself and deed 'her
half his property. ,

to passing motorists. '

of eradication work, has ordered
jail automobiles and other vehicles
'passing out of the quurantic area,
to submit to a disinfecting process.
Tho plant board's plan calls for
spraying the interiors of all vehi
cles with insecticide. It was point
ed out that the disinfectant would
ho harmless to either persons or
automobiles, and that only flies or
fly eggs would be hurt by the pro

Separated for a period nf 1G
years, C. B. Kenoyer of Iteeds-
port, Ore., and Charles Van Horn,
father and son, were reunited to
day in the federal ward of the
county jail. . Young Van Horn,
the son. is awaiting trial on charge
of transportalng u stolen automo
bile from California to Oregon.
Charles and his father were
separated when tho son was but
two years old. The child was
taken away when the mother
and father separated. The mother
remarried, the boy taking the
name of tho nnin she married.
Monday the father read In a
newspapor that a Charles Van
Horn, had been indicted by tiie
federal grand jury. Ho "took a
chance," came to Portland and
went to the county jail, where ho
met his lost 'son.
