At lenst, when a .Mall Tribune

today, he found nsscnibled there
with them and poring over weather
maps, J)elbert SI. Utile of Oakland.

the frost expert, and his assistant,

-Their concentrated -and coopera
tive efforts of poring over these
maps while they uttered some mys
terious words , that sounded liko
"lOlnee, fneene mlny mo," were evi
dently successful, for as they
straightened up and saw the re
porter, Sir. Dick remarked, "That's
oulie a storm." . '
"yes. a whale of a storm,". echo

Then, In answer to tho inter
viewer's excited questioning as he
kept bis hand on his watch and

Jealous weather sharks explained
that there was a big storm in the
liehrlng sea section, which might
or might not rench hero;, and if it
did. might come Wednesday night
or Thursday. On the oilier hand,
they said the slorm might he shunt

unofficial. Any time that group
gives out anything official, it must
be n lead pipe cinch.
As to the official weather fore
cast, they pointed to what had al
ready been written, although at tho
same lime, Messrs. nick and Young
glanced at (he barometer readings
and remarked absent-mindedly,
"Not starting to. full yet." - This

MKXICO CITY, April 23. vP-W
News was expected hourly today of
initial clashes near Maslaca. So
hora. between the principal rebel
army entrenched there and feder
als. Last reports from General Tula-
mantes, commanding 2000 federal
cavalry several miles in front of
infantry nnd the inutn army said
he had advanced cautiously as far
as Luis, 12. miles south of Masincu,
but hud found no enemy.
He was advised to be careful of
ambush and not to move too far
ahead of the main army, lost the
0000 or 7000 rebels at Musiaca and
Sanantunlp cut his force to 'pieces
before reinforcements arrived.
Moving of the principal federal
column, containing more than 8000
men with artillery, and baggage
was proving slow work, with fur-r
ther trouble on tho newly con
structed bridge over the Rio
Fucrte, nortn,or Ran Hlns, .Si mil on,
causing some delay. s
With tho outposts of the two
armies to close to each other,
however, long delay in initiating
the clash In which General Calles
hopes to repeat his devastating
victory over the army of tho north
at La Keforma, Chihuahua wns.
not believed probable.
General Juan Andreu Almazan,
"hero" of La Heforma, sent word
to Chapultepec castle thut he was
beginning the movement of his
10,000 troops through Pllpito Pass
Into Sonora, and would Bhortly be
in a position to attack the rebel
army at Us rear.
