APPRECIATION FOR
DR. MALMGREN BY
JOSEPH W.ANGELL
As a friend and formerly a close
neighbor and pastor for , several
year of or. Theo. J, Malmgren
of Phoenix. Ore., it 1 a privilege
to write a few words of loving trib
ute to liim as a true man. a real
friend and a Christian physician
whose loss from among us will he)
long and deeply mourned, and I
whose place 1n the community and
fn a multitude of hearts can never
bo quite filled.
As one whose life it was to help
others, both professionally and per
Honally, and who found his happi-'
ness in so duinK; and as a phys
ician mlnisterinK constantly and
successfully to a wide circle of pati
ents, extending into Medford and
Ashlnnd and over a large part of
.Jm-kson county, he was truly a
"family doctor" and fiic-nd .neh us
'van very se.ldom lo found nowa
days, loved, trusted and cherished
by all whom he had helped or who
knew him at all well! 1 i
i And with all this, he was Indeed
nble and successful as a physician,
well read.- and one" ivho continued
reading and '"keeping up,'' even-in
(he midst of a very heavy practice.
Indeed, many of us who knew him
Intimately will always feel that it
was his life of unremitting (and
often unpaid) toil and of self-forgetting
ncrvlet- as . ','couiHry doc
tor,' which literally wore him out
and brought on. the heart attack
from which he died early last Wed
nesday morning, after .a day of
heavy professional service reaching
beyond midnight,., as was so often
the case -with him. ,
-As his pnstor for;over four years
-and. with my wife, .frequently one
of his patients -for twice that time
I rejoice in tills privilege of add
ing our tribute of love, deepest
respect and warmost friendship to
Dr. Malmgren," and of loving sym
pathy and earnest prayer for his
family and those who will most
miss him.
For him, I believe, because of
his own personal faith in Christ
and his giving himself unreserved
ly after the example .of his Suvlor
and Lord, to going about doing
good nnd helping all that were
oppressed, "it Is far bettor to do
part ami to be with Christ."
FOr us, it may be so, too, in our
turn. If we so believe 4nd live, and
now we have this promise of com
fort and help, "I will not have you
comfortless, I will come unto you."
