trip through the surrounding val
leys Sunday afternoon and noted
the condition of gralu crops. There
were a few very promising looking
grain foetcls on the creek bottom
lands, but the majorltv of fields
showed the bady effects of the dry
freezing weather which lasted so
long through several successive in
tervals the iast two months.
The dormant spray has been com
pleted in most of the orchards and
a few more duys of priming in the
Van Hoevenhurg orchard will fin
ish that work for the season. . j

Malmgren were at the church sup
per early in the evening and later
in the night the doctor was called
out and he returned near midnight ;

about 6 In the morning. Heart
trouble was awlgned as the cause,

horn in. Union county, South Da
kota. Dr. Malmgren had endeared
himwelf to the entire valley by his'
kindly and whole-hearted manner.
