JACKSONVILLE, Ore., April 3.
(Special.) Much new interert has
been aroued In the Jacksonville
high school and grade school since
other small nchoolu of the county
' have been included In the banking
ystpm. ,
The Jacksonville school was the
first school outside of Med ford to
receive the advuntnge of the sya
temv A great deal of Interest -was
shown at first, but finally It be
came hard to keep the interest' up,
an the school had no one In Its
class with which to compete In
banking. , Last week the Jackson
ville high school banked 100 per
cent and the grade school banked
C9.4 per cent. '
Mrs. John Gren is very much
Improved at the Rogue River sani
tarium. Mrs. Carahan and two daughters
of Roseburg were week end visitors
at the home of her parents. Mr.
and Mrs. G. W. Jenkins.
Mrs. Charles Hamilton of Ruch
was a guest of Mrs. A. G. Lewis
Friday evenings.
Frank Matney of Missouri Flats,
spent a few hours In Jacksonville;

Miss Vivian Miller Is assisting;

Mrs. Sophia NIckellH Kckclson,
former resident of Jacksonville,
passed away at her homo in Port
land, March 27, nt the age of 70
years. Mrs. Kckelson was born In
Yreka, Cal. When she was ten
years old the family moved to
Jacksonville. She attended the St.
Mary's academy here and made her
home here until her marriage to
A. O. Kckelson, August 2,iJ8fil. In
1902 Mr. Kckelson died. Three
irhltdrcn survive, A. I. Kckelson, an
engineer connected with tho U. S.
engineer corns; Miss Genevieve
Kokolson, find Fablftn TJckelsbn. A
brother, tho late Charles Nlokells,
was for many years editor and
owner of the Jacksonville Times.
