In his first game as a back
he crashed through the lino with
nothing between him and the goal
but the safety man. It looked
like a sure touchdown, but Lump-i
kin, remembering his coaching as
a lineman, charged straight at ;
the safety man.- Five yards from:
him he threw down tho ball, ac-1
cording to Allen, and crashed into
the safety man. knocking him to
llio ground. That done Lumpkin
turned to retrievo the ball, but
