Sidney Stajer, n former se'retary of
Arnold Uothslein. has been arrest
ed as a material witne in the
shooting of the gambler on No
vember 4, the police anuoi'nced to
day. Stajer, who gave his occupation
ns a clerk, was arrested Into last
night by four detectives, at Sev
enth avenue and ftfith street. Po
lice declined to divulge further de
tails. The arrest the first "made in the
slaying came on the eve of the
assembling of the grand jury to
inquire Into the case. Sixty wit
nesses were under subpoena to ap
pear toua.
Stajer was questioned by District
Attorney Hnnton previous to the
convening of the grand jury. Han-
ton would not discuss the result.
