In some instances national returns
were heard over KMKU before
they were heard from members
of the broadcast chain. Probably
every radio set in this county, as
woll hs in Josephine county, was
in use, with most listeners unln;;
their sets until the station was
closed dowu.
At midnight, when listeners were
asked if they wished to continue,
phono calls were received at the
main studio from Grants Pass, Ash
land. Talent, Phoenix, Jacksonville,
Kagle Point, hake Creek Central
Point and Gold Hill, in addition to
numerous calls from persons in
Bedford. The studio phone, ac
cording to Floyd Bush, In charge
there, was ringing incessantly for
qyer half an horn.
The broadcasting of returns con
tinuously throughout the evening
was made iKssible by several firms
turning their regular schedule at
the station to that purpose, and
included, the Mail Tribune, the
Coast Advertising company. Snider
TVUry company and the California
Oregon Power company.
