The buck was first seen wilh the

unafraid of humans who chanced

that the buck took on the habit
of a suckling calf, helping himself
liberally to fresh milk whenever
the pangs of hunger became so
strong that grass would not appease
his appetite. He became a famil
iar sight to Mr. Kelgh. who never
thought of molesting the deer un
til the opening of the hunting sea
son. Hunters cat iff through the sec
tion, and he feared the buck would
fall to the gun of a stranger, and
ratr than to i.uve that occur.
