A barn owned by Mr. Twi Pulleij'
ami Lewis Ilohertson burned Inst
Saturday nteht between la and 11
o'clock. The fire could be seen
very plainly from I'aule point.
Many thought it was the W. shern
service station. The harn had only
been built a few years. There was
about eighteen tons of hay burned,
besides a large ipiantlt. " chicki
iced. Mr. Pullcn had Just got in his
winter supply o-- grain for some
two hundred chickens, as well ;is
his winter apples and wood, all of
which was scored in the burn. Mr.
I'ullen and family hail- retired for
the night and were awakened by
Mrs. Lewis Robertson, who had dis
covered the fire on the roof. It is
thought that the fire was caused
by spontaneous combustion. It
burned so rapidly that it was with
much difficulty lhat lloberson was-
able to get some calves out of one
of the sheds. His arm was (julte
severely hurtled. Mr. Plllleil's er,r
could not be saved, and it wa- with
great difficulty that the chicken
house was saved from t he f la riles.
