Republican efforts on behalf oC
agriculture In the parly's seven
years of post war administration
were detailed today by Senator
Curtis, the republican vice presi
dential nominee, and compared
with the position of democrats In
congress, particularly on the tar
iff. Speaking at (ho invitation of the
American Farm llureait to a New
Work state fair assemblage, the
Kansas senator confined his pre
pared remarks principally to the
agricultural situation, lie cited the
passage of the emergency tariff
act, the extension of farm credits
through the intermediate farm
credit act of liUM and through the
War Finance corporation, and the
enactment of legislation authoriz
ing organization of cooperative as
sociations, as among the accomp
lishments of the republican admin
istration. The nominee also praised the
Kellogg treaty for the renunciation
id' war which was signed yester
day In Paris, predicting its general
approval in this country and ad
herence to it by every nation in
the world.- As republican leader
ol' the senate, Senator Curtis will
bo called upon next session to ask
formal ratification of the pact.
