We don't censure tlie members of tlie Council for Hint nc

Hut we do believe the members of the Council are mistalfii
in their idea of what the people want.
If "With Med ford trade is Medl'ord made" means anything
it means the patronage of local industries, even though a lower
price miVlit lie secured outside, at a catalogue house for e
amjtlc. It is based upon the perfectly sound theory that by
helping e.ich other we help ourselves, and by keeping I hf money
nt home we alt benefit.
Th.it theory applies to the city as well as to the individual,
if anything it applies more to the'city, for the money the
city spends belongs to the people, who benefit chiefly from the
application of this principle,
I'nless priees submitted by local firms are extortionate
and local competition should prevent that, the city of Med ford

We also believethe City Council should have awarded the

the contract price will, in our judgment, represent a decided
loss, when the extra cost of lnaintaininy; th asphaltie type of

sending thousands of dollars away from this city, which could
have. and should have been, kept at home.
