KAN FRANCISCO, June 28. iP)
Determined to fix the prices of the
928 canning pencil crop before
the. actual season opens, the oper
ating committee of the canncrs
league of California held an execu
tive pension here today. The com
mittee had under consideration the
demand for a flat price of SL'5 a
ton on No. 1 peaches, made by the
Canning Peach Cirowors associa
tion last week.
It was generally 'believed the
dinners held the price of $25 for
number one grade and $15 a ton
for No. 2 peaches, without regard
to pack, was too high.
J'reston McOinney, secretary of
tho growers' league said that the
comntitteo would hold sessions
until a solution had been reached.
' Production, based on joint fed
eral and state surveys, will be
395,000 tons this year as against
322,000 tons of purchases in 1027.
After a "peach" war la.st year, tho
growers received about $22.50 a
tun fur their product.
