Hieakijm off a telephone pole and
plunging through a fence, n sedan
driven by Oordoii Thompson of
Salem early today dropped twelve
feet over an embanknu nt. injuring
Thompson severely and inflicting
bruises and cuts on the body of a
girl companion, Miss Sonera Lucas.
Another occupant of the car
whose name was not learned
,ckch pod injury.
Thompson and Miss Lucas were
taken to the Portland sanitarium.
The accident occurred at Snd
street and Sti any side road in
Clackamas county. A heavy plank
punctured the radiator and pene
trated t he dashboard to within a
few inches of the rear seat of the
car. Clackamas county officials
declared it was a miracle that any
one escaped alive.
The automobile Thompson was
driving is the same ear which went
over an embankment south of
Canema last whiter, officers :-:aid.
The car was found this morning
with pools of blood about it. It

car took the Injured persons io the
hospital.
