Despite Ksiankk's refusal to
wreHtle, last night's card was of a
highly satisfactory nature. Inns
much that a fast match was staged

'wreHtltng policeman of I'ortland,
and Joe Sheridan of Los Angeles.
The two men had wrestled for 30
minutes when Wiles finally pinned
Sheridan's shoulders to the mat.
However, up until that lime, the
wrestlers were on even terms, with
the southern California grappler,
who appeared to be Jewish, apply
ing a number of palnfu,and pun
ching holds on Wiles, o. after
considerable effort each time
broke them.
Wiles remarked this forenoon
that Sheridan was one of tho fast
est mat men he had ever met and
prafecd his ability as u wrestler.
Wiles In his police department
work Is nn InveHtlgator of traffic
accidents and fatalities and has
been employed by tho Portland
police force for over eight years.
He was for a time located aa a
Mtato traffic officer in Jackson
county and by some is remem
bered when he held that position
here.
In last night's acmi-windup, Tex
Porter, up and coming 145 pound
wrestler of this city, defeated In
dian Jones of Chiloquin In 17 min
utes with an arm bar. The boys
were evenly matched and provided
good entertainment for the fans
present. Porter showed consider
able improvement over his last ap
pearance when he defeated Cecil
Barrlck of Grants Pass.
In a second preliminary, J. Mar
shall of Aberdeen, Wash., who
boxed on the last fight card here,
wrestled last night and defeated a
voimg Rose burg wrestler in less
than fivo minutes by applying a
vicious headlock. A curtain raiser
boxing event was won by Young
Swope of Grants Pans.
Fans were puzzled bust night
over Karasick's disappointing ac
tion and wondered if the Russian
was not a good enough sportsman
to wrestle the local Lithuanian,
who was anxious to go on with
Karaslck, who leaves next week
for an extended tour of Australia.
At any rate, Karaslck has been
barred from Medford and has
made himself unpopular..
"I- am very sorry that I disap
pointed the crowd last night," said
Karaslck this morning in explain
ing his action, "but It was impos
sible for mo to go on when I had
expected a substantial guarantee.
I am not afraid of Rogers and I
can safely say that I can throw
him at any time. 1 threw him in
Portland and I can do it any other
place I want to at any time. I
would have liked to have shown
what I can do In the ring.
"I am going to vrestle in Klam
ath Falls tonight," he continued,
"that is if the house is large
enough. If it is small,. I won't,
for I don't have to wrestle for a

inar next Wednesday for. Australia
witli , my wife. and little girl and
will prohnbty bo gone for some
time. I, hope that tho people of
Medford will not judgo me too
