AVERY iiniismtJ'fVPnt is scheduled here for the last part of
Jimp. Members of the State Editorial Association of Cali
fornia are to visit Medford, hold their animal meeting at Crater
Luke fiiid return via Klamath Falls.
Unless we arc much mistaken this is the first time an offi
cial delegation from California has visited this section of the
state exclusively, nnd, needless to say, every effort should be
made to make their visit a happy and successful one.
The publicity value of such an excursion is obvious. Headed
by former Governor Friend Kichardson, all the visitors will be
editors of important newspapers in California; wlien they re
turn they will write of their impressions of SoutJieni Oregon,
and as a result the people of California will be presented with
more Oregon literature than they have seen in a great many
years.
It is not too early to prepare for this excursion. No doubt a
number of automobiles will be needed, and some sort of enter
tainment program should be prepared for them, either here or
at the hike.
California already supplies a large percentage of the annual
travel to Crater Lake. The better time these visiting editors
have on this trip, the belter the advertising secured, and the
larger the 1028 crop of tourists in this section.
Both as a matter of hospitality, therefore, nnd as a matter
of practical self-interest, it is not too early for Medford to pre
pare to do all it can to make this visit a red-letter day in the
history of California journalism.

eral reserve re-discount rate may

high as eight points. Oils were
