A long distance telephone mes
sage was received here at 1 o'clock
thin afternoon hy John Perl from
Dr. E. H. Porter at Madera. Calif.,
nsklng that he hurry his new mod
ern eight-cylinder Invalid carriage
to that place to bring Mrs. Porter,
who Is In the Mailern sanitarium
recovering from Injuries received

route fn their car to Han Francisco.

According to a letter Mrs. John
prl received from Mis. Porter
yesterday, and written for Iit
mother hy Miss Porter, Dr. Por'er
has been released from all blame
for the accident. The signature of
Mrs. Porter to the letter was In a
trembly scrawl, showing the nerv
ous condl lon of the writer. In a
very brief sentence sinned by Miss
Porter herself, the letter said: "Dud
and I are fine."
Mrs. Porter's letter was In part
as follows:
"Here I am In the Madera sani

dent yesterday. All the blame has
been placed on the other parly,
and as they have suffered I should
not complain but, oh. how I ache.
