Mark's Guild hall yesterday, when
more than 150 old and new mem
bers and their friend gathered to
celebrate the 25th anniversary of
the organization.'

The' original . Greater Mod ford
ciub was known as the Lewis and
Clark elub, and; was founded here
bv 20 local women, some or whom

members and past presidents were
Mrs. W. 1. Vawter', Mrs. F. E. Mer
rick. Mrs. Rose fichofflln, Mrs. J.
F. Mundy and Mrs. Mary Heddy.
all of whom were prescnt at yes
terday's meeting.
The minutes of the first meet
ings told of a play given to raise
'.money for the .organization. The
-one chosen was The Texas Steer
-recently revived in the movies by
Will Rogers. A review In the Mali
Tribune., following the production,
commented: "Indiana, greasers.
bad men and the general riff-raff
of humanity . were impersonated by
artists' .peculiarly adapted to their

-The minutes further spoke m the
editor ot the Mail Tribune, giving
the paper over- to-She Lewis and
Clark club for one edition, to en.
able them to raise money for their
organization. The ladies cleared

In her petition the singer as
serted the suit was not based' on
matrimonial grounds but Is "mere
ly an effort to enforce a simple
contract."' The contract, the peti
tion s'ates, was that Dr. Heckscher
was to pay her the yearly sum in
return for which she was to sing
only, at charitable concerts desig
nated by the philanthropist..; ,
