tonco of three years, which he hail
contested in un appeal to the state
KUpreme court, which in August,
1926. affirmed the verdict of the
circuit court in which he was con
victed. .November 13, 19211. Sheriff
Ralph Jennings demanded uf the
bondsmen to produce Owen and
though a search was iuslltuted, he
could not be found nnd to this
date his whnroabouls have never
been ascertained. Authorities wait
ed from that date until the present
in demanding the bondsmen to
produce the money hi the belief
that Owen would be located.
Owen was indicted by the gr:iud
Jury May 21. 1921, fur ahttngthe
failure of the Jacksonville bank by
plotting with W. H. Johnson, Us
cashier, who has already complet
ed his sentence in the state peni
tentiary. Evidence offered was
that Owen drew a check for JluO
March 2 5, 1919, when he hail no
funds In the bank, and that this
check was cashed by Johnson
without further authority.
Of the $2501), S1000 is demanded
of M. K Hanley and $ii00 each
from Kmil Mohr, J. L. Helms and
J. T. Gagnon.
