DKTROIT. Dec. 9. (A. P.) "Mel-
lie" Dunham, Maine's champion
fiddler, who arrived with hit wife
from Norway, Malno, Into yesterday
to visit Henry Ford was at tho Dear
born country club toduy.
Tho fiddler and his wife, who have
been attracting much notlco since he
was invited to come to Detroit, were
waiting to be told tho plans Mr. Ford
hud for their entertainment while in
the city. Beforo retiring early last
night, Mr, Dunham said that he was
as much Ignorant of tho program for
his visit as the general public and the
only announcement vouchsafed by
tho Ford organization was that there
might be a statement issued by Mr.
Ford today.
Arriving late yesterday afternoon
Mr. and Mrs. Dunham were met at
the rallroud station by an assistant
secretary from Mr. Ford's pergonal
staff, ilo whisked them into an auto-
mobilo and started them for Dear
born, completely ignoring a corps of
newspapermen who had Journeyed all
the way from Maine with the couple.
The fiddler, his fiddlo undor ono
arm and a pair of sr.uwshocs under
tho other, wits taken directly to the
Ford offices at Dearborn, where they
were shown through tho plant and
where, they met Mr. Ford. Tho only
report of the meeting was that given
by Dunham Ia.it night, lie said Mr.
Ford tmld ho was "glud to see him,"
and tho fiddler returned tho greeting
and presented him with tho snow
shoes ho had made for him.
Ford, then, according to Dunham's
report given over tho telephone from
the country club, told them ho want
ed them to havo a good rest and sent
them to the Dearborn country club.
The fiddler was loud In his praise of
the "supper" he had at the club last
night, asserting It was the best one he
had ever eaten and was highly appre
ciative of tho attention ho was, being
given.
