reasonable to believe that we could
leave the coal miners, the operators
and the dealers holding the bag at
the end of this annual demonstration
of theirs.
Here's ft significant fact sponsored
by physicists:
It takes almost as much coal to
heat the household ntmosphere from
CO degrees P. up to 70 as it docs to
heat it from 20 degrees up to CO.
A high household temperature i
should bo considered an extravagant
luxury, though practicing doctors are !
very foolish to discourage such a lux
ury, at least in hard times. ,
Please read over the single fact I
have cited, Ignoring the padding snug
ly placed around it. When you have
tucked it away In your mind, where
you can find It again when you- need
try to pack a second fact away in
there alongside It, if there is room:
AJiousehold temperature of 72 de
grees P. with the low relative humid
ity which generally goes with It, feels
more chilly than a temperature of (!5
degrees P.. with the higher humidity
which generally goes with it.
Should this strain bring on a head
ache, try a half doen somersaults for
ward and backward. You'll be sur
prised how you'll come up on your
feet chuckling-T if at all.
Now a little more padding. Treating
the air in tho house tends to dry it
out. We are most comfortable when
the atmosphere contains about 40 per
cent relative humidity. As a rule the
outside air In the winter time contains
about that proportion of moisture un
til It has been heated above 60 degrees
