TIRED OF BEING
DEAD VICTIM OF
FEUD GIVES UP
new yonif, oct. 16. (A. I-.)
William K. Turner, former coal mine
foreman of feudist I'lke county, Ken
tucky, tired of beliiB "dead In Ger

fac chnrt;" of murderlnK the uni
dentified miner whon tomlmtone
beard Turner name, lie also In ne
euHed of the murder of Henry Wll
non, another mine worker killed In n
mysterious explosion In a coal mine
at McCarr, Kentucky.
The fntal explosion wan considered
an accident until Turner, who blamed
other for the affair, pot homesick in
Hamburg and wrote to a Kentucky
friend a letter that reached the au
thurltlen, When Turner, under weight from
short rations and with his belonging
In a paplerrnnche Hiiitcnse, stepped off
the Kangplank of the steamer Resol
lute, arriving from Hamburg yester
day, he wan greeted by Taylor Hat
field, one of tt) famous feudist clan
and a deputy sheriff of Pike county.
Hatfield showed Turner, a wnrrnnt
for hi arrest.
Mm. Turner, who tins been living
In Trenton. N. J., with her five child
ren since she and Turner's sister, Mrs.
F. P. Farley of Coral Gables, Flu., col
lected $08,000 after Turner's supposed
death, said she had thought her hus

her children in thnt belief.
She said she had no part In Identi

In Williamson. W. Vn Joe Jacks.
Turner's father-ln-luw, who was an
electrician for the mine at the time
of the explosion Inst January, has
been arrested also.
"We were blasting In the new cut."
Turner began his story to Hntfleld
and the New York police yesterday.
"Henry Wilson nnd some other men
were setting dynamite charges. I was
In another part of the mine."
Ordinarily, according to Turner, It
Is a safe nnd simple thing to attach
wires to a dynamite chnrge. but the
circuit must have closed and the ex
plosive went off as soon as the wires
touched It. Wilson nnd his compan
ion were blown to pieces.
"I didn't know anything about. It."
continued Turner. "A brother-in-law
of mine took me out to drink some
white mule. He wouldn't let me go
where anyone could see me. He kept
making me drink and when I was
good and drunk he pulled a gun on
me and aald I would have to get out
of toiy and stuy out. He tuld me
where to go nnd what to do. 1 went."
' The remains of Wilson were Identi
fied and when Turner's absence con
tinued for several days, the other body,
bndlv mangled, but about the right
weight and measurements, was Identi
fied as his. .An Insurance company
paid his "widow" nnd his sister his In
FUrnnce without protest.
Turner went to Columbus, Ohio,
and thence to New York where he
was met by Ills fnther-lu-lnw. Joe
.lacks, who had tickets fur Norway.
T'Vom Norway, Turner went to Hamburg.
