THE overwhelming victory of Die city water bonds is extremely
gratifying. TliiH wiih tile Hiipremely important niciisure from
the Btnndpoint of the city's welfare, and the emphatic endorsement
by the people, removes all doubt regarding public sentiment, and
gives the watee bulii'd a free hand, to proceed with the business
of securing adequate water and pure water at the earliest moment
possible.
, Yesterday's election should ninrk a turning point in Hertford '
history.; A new water supply will not only, moan better health, it
will mean new industries, enlargement ot present industries, a
steady increase in population, and continued growth and .prosperity
of this community.
It is unfortunate that the new wnter system can not be in
stalled tomorrow. But of course it can't be. There are many pre
liminary problems to be settled, and in a matter of such supreme
importance it is better to go slow and be sure than to make haste.
and bo srry. "
Medford was never in better condition than it is today. The
election results remove all doubts as to its immediate future. . .
And in conclusion one might say this.- AVe can talk of oor mani
fold resources, o'ur horticulture, agriculture, mines and timber,
and we-have them, but the greatest resource Medford hus is the
high quality of 1 s citizenship.
.That citizenship, as usual eamn through true to the test yester
day. Medford dues things'. It always has. Let us hope it always
will. And the final credit goes to no one man, or one group of
men, but to the forward-looking enterprising people, of this city
as a whole, who in a crisis involving the city's true welfare, never
fail.
