"Picking of crapes has slackened
perceptibly this week due to the lower
prices In Portland, coupled with tlio
wet weather here," says the Grants
Pass Courier.' "A number of the vine-

eral nights shipments havo been aver
aging from 600 to 700 crates. Tonight
however, tho shipments will npt be
more than 100 cartes. These are go
ing by express, cars being set out
here daily, loaded and ready for the
night train. Some of the larger vine
yards, including Redlands, will start
picking next Monday. While the rains
have done some damage, It Is expected
that the crop will be about 20.000
