Poey,
How It was bullded, God under
stands. I'p on the hillside, beneath tho tree,
A womnn built it on bended knees,
Willi faith unswerving, aud earnest
; prayer,
' Just one little woman and God
were there.
Where lightly the forest Bhadows fell.
This church was bullded, and
builded well.
Its walls were fashioned from bush
and vine;
Its rwf, the branches of fir and
Pine;
Its floor, the carpet where wild
flowers rest:
Its 8l re. the tree where the eagles
nest;
All swayed by the touch ot a sum
mer's breeze.
Sweet little, quaint little "Church In
the Trees."
Time dragged his footsteps from yoar
to year;
The stranger entered and settled
here;
We grew and prospered, though all
were poor,.
And hapny children played round
tho door;
Yet no home of worship the soul to
ease, -1
Naught, save the "Little Church In
tho Troos."
Where hearts are earnest they find
a way, .
There's ever an answer for those
who pray;
Where seeds are dropped In a fertile
soil, ,
There's ever a harvest tor those who
toll;
So a band of women found a way,
This church was finished ono
happy day.
Full fifty yesrs this building has stood.
'Twas bullded of human flosh and
. blood, . .
Of tithes and struggles and hopes de-
. , ferred,
Of soft entreaty and kindly word;
And sweetest memories linger hero
Of vanished forms that wero once
so dear.
Perhaps, some day. a grander wni rise
Its steeple piercing the starry skies,
Whose walls of granite and girders
strong , -
Will toss back echoes of prayer and
song;
No matter how rich and grand all

'Tis still "The Little Church in the
