Cordon Howe. San Francisco account

further questioning regarding the sup

Oakland nurse. Police said Howe
left the home of his mother in Kruit

night, Thursday, in company with his
wife, and that his present whereabouts
was unknown to them. Detectives
who were watching the Howe home'
said they did not see the couple leave
the house.
From Mrs. Howe, mother of the ac

Howe and his wife were believed by
her to be "somewhere in Kerkeley."
San Francisco and Contra Costa

led investigators to the belief that the
entire body of the woman may have
been hacked into small pieces in an
effort to prevent identification.
Mrs. Ijoren's family said she. had

DRT1KHT, Mich., Aug. (A. P.)
A great city today paid tribute to a

At Navin field this afternoon it was

him.
Tonight he will be honored at a

Cobb came to I eiroft August 30,

only 30(1.000 nersona. Less than 1200
fans saw his debut in a game aguinst

Dick Cooley, a regular outfielder.
was out of the lineup, anil Cobb, for
want of anyone else, took his place,
batting fifth under "Wahoo Sam"
Crawford, one of the greatest slug
gers of his day.
Big Jack Cheshro, at the top of his
splendid career, was pitching for New
York. .Matty Mclulirc had doubled
single by. Lindsay,
Lindsay had been sacrificed to second

tupped weakly at Chesbro and was
thrown out.
A man was on third and two out
with Cobb at bat. lie lunged al tho
first ball and missed. He watched

Chesbro shot one waist high. "ohh

American league debut. Ho finished
tho 1905 season with a batting aver
