In fact It was a very special accident.
It seems that the state officer In,hhi
eagerness to keep an eye on another
car suspected of containing a cargo of
liquor, started to back his auto out
from its parking place on a business
street, Just as Clay Johns, the Med
ford driver uf one of the Crater Lako
stages, off duty, came" driving slowly
along the street with his young lady
companion. -
Both drivers sought to control their
cars ln time to avoid an accident, but
ineffectually, as McMnhon's car bent
the fender of Johns' car and pressed
against it so hard as to leave ah im
pression on Its body of a spare tire.
Neither was to blame for the acci
dent, ;but 'McMahon promptly told
Johns lo have his car fixed and that
ho would pay the bill. .
