drawn vehicles constitute less than
one per cent of the- total traffic on
Oregon's highways, according .to a
survey conducted by the state high
way department on June 17. The
survey which covereh 178 points
on 33 Bifforent' tstato highways, ac
counted for a totul of 110,680 ve
hicles of all descriptions of which
only, 1002 or .98 per cent were horsJ
drawn.
Passenger automobiles constituted
by far tho heaviest part of the
traffic with a total of 98,599 cars
accounted for, or 89. 1G per cent of
tho total. : Of this number 71,934
wero Oregon cars and 20,665 were
cars, from other stutos. A total of
6100 light trucks were accounted
for and 3980 heavy trucks. , Motor
cycles numbered 814.
Tho heaviest trnfflc was found at
a point on the Tualatin Valley high
way, west of the Junction near Bea
verton whore 2819 vehicles wore
counted during the day, only five of
which were horse. drawn. Only ten
vehicles were counted on the' Ochocd
highway at its junction with tho
John Dny highwny, all of this num
ber being passenger automobiles
