additional damage. Both are still

heen repaired wero not disturbed.
As a result of-tho shock this morn-,
Ins there were wild rumors coneern
Inir the dnmaKe, but they proved to bo
without foundation or exaggerated.
One report said that the mansion of
C. K. G. Billings of Chicago, which Is
located In Monteclto, had boen de
stroyed. A detail of pollen and a
newspuper man visited tho place and
found the buildings of the estate in
practically the same condition as
after the quake Monday. Somo plaster

building did not suffer to any serious '
extent today.
A few persons who were working
In wrecked or damaged buildinsa
were bruised in their scramble to get
out, but a visit to the Cottage hospital
where tho quake sufferers are cared
for, shows that not a single person
has heen added to the Injured list up !

Tho city officials report that the '
city hall, which escaped practically
undamaged in tho first shock Monday, ,
suffered a Utile damase In this morn-1
lng's quake.
Several large cracks appeared In
the walls, but the damage is not re
garded as serioua.
The reconstruction commission was
in session in tho city hall at the time
of the shock and in tho rush to get
f'om the building. City Manager Her
bert Xunn. who has been laboring
under strain and workinu incessantly
since Monday, slipped and fell on the
stairway. Ho was taken home but is
not thought to be badly hurt.
One of the best exhibitions of cold
nerve ever seen in time of stress wni;
furnished by the Associated Press
operator 'n the offtco of tho Daily
News. When tho building began to
rock he opened the key and announced
the quake to the outsido world and
took out his watch to timo the dura
tion of the shock ns he watched the
buildings roll and rock.
A second hard jolt came at 10:21,
which did not. help the nerves of the
people but did not damage.
