POR'AaND, Ore., 3une 26. Portland-and
vkTiiily is Hliowing a healthy
growth as a whlppcr of vegetables and
garden produce to other niarkotH. This
Industry has shown a steady gain dur
ing tho last fmv years, due largely to
rigid governmnnt Inspection.
O rowers are benefitting from these
outside shipments, not only from tho
remunerative returns from the ship
ments but also from the fact that It
keeps the home market in good shape
and rIIoWk Ihcm to sell their crop at
a good profit Instead of having to un
load at any old price on a market al
ready over supplied.
"We have shipped out some of tho
finest cars of pears this season," said
Billy Bullettsett. proprietor of Garden
Products. "These shipments have not
only kept tho local market from be
coming over supplied, but have also
enabled the growers to harvest their
entire crop at a fair profit."
A pproximatcly 18 cars of strawber
ries wore shipped. Cherry shipments
will start from the valley next week
and there will probably be around fifty
'carloads move out for the eastern mar
kets. Very few fresh prunes are expected
.to ho shipped this year on account of
the severe winter kill and tho result
ing light crop.
Tho poultry market Is well supplied
and prices are barely steady.
Butter continues firm although
standard cubes aro a half cent lower
on the exchange. All other grades
posted steady. likelihood of an ad
vance In print prices this week end
has apparently blown over.
Current receipt eggs are a half cent
higher on tho oxchango at 32 c net.
Graded) stocks posted steady. Hot
weather and closer candling have caus
ed losses with prospect of prices work
ing much hlghor.

CA1LLAUX PLAMS
FOR PAYING DEBTS
ARE MADE PUBLIC
PARIS, June ?6. (A. P.) i Minister
Calllaux's plans for payment of ma
turing bonds provide for an Increase
of six billion francs in both the circu
lation and the Bank of France's ad
vances to the state and for the issu
ance of gold parity bonds exchange
able for the national defense bonds
that mature in July and pptember.
When the national defense bonds
are redeemed by the new gold parity
bonds tho maximum of the state's
floating debt will be fixed at the
amount existing on the day the bond
subscriptions aro closed. -
The Caillaux bill fixes tho circula
tion or bank notes at 61,000,000,000
francs Instead of 45,000,000,000 and
the advances to the state by the Bank
of France at 32,000,000,000 francs In
stead of 26,000,000,000.
The bill gives the government the
right to fix the exact terms of the
new gold bond issue by government
decree.
The preamble of the bill says the
treasury's shortage is partly duo to
the "continued repayment of national
defense bonds."
The new issue of gold parity bonds
will be offered only in exchange for
the maturing defense bonds, but the
exchange will not be obligatory, the
bill says. It is thus hoped to consoli
date tho greater, part of this floating
debt.
