MOORS REFUSE TO

RABAT, Morocco. June 15 (A. P.) -
M. Painleve, the French premier, who
has been visiting the zone of hostili-WiN
lies in French Morocco. left Rabat i
late yesterday by uirplane for Malaga,
Spain on his way back to Paris.'
'I will make a full report of my
visit to Morocco to parllunient Tues
day afternoon," M. l'ainlcve informed
the correspondents.
The premier expressed isatisfaction
with the morale and health of the
troops but explained that the Moroc
can warefare whas boiny conducted
along entirely different lines than
those set for the European war.
M. Painleve requested General
Javqucmont, chief of his military
staff, to give the correspondents a
few more technical details "from a
military viewpoint."
The general said:
"We are in a very favorable situa
tion; there is nothing to fear for the
safety of Fez or even Taounat. Our
aviation will be strengthened' both as
to personnel and material.
"Observation balloons are on their
way here and wilj,be posted all-along'
the front. ' " '
"It is a false comparison undir the
conditions of this warfare to pit a
thousand Riffians against a thousand
best European shock troops. The lat
ter certainly would annihilate the
Moors in open warfare, but they are
under a disadvantage here.
"The Moors have only a few can
non and possess practically no ma
chine guns. Nearly all the wounds of
our soldiers result from rifle, fire,
In
which the tribesmen excel."
