CHICAGO, May, 27. (A. P.) The
place to determine a championship Is
in the ring and not in the courts.
This, in effect, was tho decision of
Jud(;e Hugo Friend, who refused yes
terday to grant in Injunction sought
by Stanislaus ZltygKko, restraining pro
moter.1! from advertising the match be
tween Kd "Wrangler" Lewis and
.Wayne "1:1k" Miinii at Michigan City,
Kuturduy afternoon ns a championship
affair.
I "Th're Is no precedent for such ac
tion," he judKo said, "and if the court
were to attempt to decide who is
champion in this case, every athlete
' who doomed himself aggrieved. In an
'athletic contest would be rushing into
court for relief."
J Zbyszko stated in his pea that Munn
had won the title from Lewis nnd that
he, Zbysko, had won the championship
1 from Munn in a recent Philadelphia
I encounter. Zbyszko's attorneys tried
to establish tho fact that custom al-
I wayw had determined a champion in
wrestling. H had always been up to
the fcrcree to determine a winner of
a mat bout, but Walter Hates, who
! acted as referee of the much discussed
Lcwls-Mpnn mat at Kansas City last
January, testified as a witness for the
defendant that ho had never, declared
a winner of the ko In which Munn
tossed tho Ht rangier out of the ring.
