The Screen
By Yo Pram 'Agent.
Thrilling Kllm at nlnllo.
Good cild melodrama conies swoon
ing across tho screen at tho Hlalto
theatre today und tomorrow in "Tho
Midnight Express." As the title Im
plies it concerns n few thrilling races
throiiKh the night in speeding ex
press trains, but there are also plod-,
ding freight train, runaway engines
and all the other necessary adjuncts
to a correct melodrama of the rail
road yards.
There Is some .magnificent photog
raphy In the offering. The thrill of
the crashing povr of the hugo loco
motives thundering and crashing
over the ribbons of sleel cannot
escape one. The night scenes are
especially vivid nnd present some
thing more than more screen play
emphasis.
The, plot has a pretty girl nnd n
handsome man In" tho persons of
Blaine IlHmmeiHtein and William
Haines, and tho other members of
the cast havo been well selected for
type. The good nnd the bad. In
which of course, tho good always
rli'mnlis over the had. have neon
included In tho weaving of the plot.
Komance Is the moving element for
melodramn. naturally. Dut there Is
action enough to suit the fan who
requires his thrills along with his
loves of the screen. .
The usual -short subjects In comedy
and review reel complete the bill.

Seldom have we seen such a com

as In -The Great Divide." the .Metro
(loldwyn jilcture which opened ut the
Hunt's Craterian theatre Wednesday
nnd will show tomorrow matinee
nnd night, laying off tonight for tho
legitimate production, "So This Is
London."
The" story, which is from the fa
mous stage play by William Vaughn
Moody, is strong and full of numer
ous twists nnd thrills that keep one
spellbound from stnrt to finish.
Tho cast headed by Conway Tearle
nnd Alice Terry, contnlns also the
names Wallace rteery. lluntly ftor.
lion. Zasu I'lits. Allan Forrest. Oeo.
Cooper nnd William Arlamond.
,' The story starts In a small Xew
Knitland village nnd travels from
there to the Painted resert Ari
zona. It Is ' a psychological story
of a woman's pride and a battle be
tween her cont-lou mind and her
